The workshop is being held during the Fall Native Plant Sale held each year on a Saturday at Manatee Park from 9AM to 2PM. Pre-registered workshop attendees will receive a starter plant kit containing a variety of Southwest Florida natives to use in creating a new rain garden or can be used in an existing low area or depression in your yard. The plant kit includes: a paurotis (Everglades) palm, leather fern, fakahatchee grass or sand cordgrass and a choice of four different native wildflowers (tropical sage, tickseed, yellowtop or blue flag iris. The workshop provides design suggestions including connecting rain water coming off your home or held in a rain barrel, complete planting instructions, maintenance and care information and a reference booklet. This workshop shows you how excess rain water can be filtered and protect the water quality in your own yard and neighborhood. |
