The UF/IFAS Lee County Extension, in collaboration with the Lee County Beekeepers Association and The Bees Choice Honey Farms offers a 4-233k introductory night and weekend beekeeping class this spring. 

Live Bees are not provided as part of package!

This seminar will focus on the management of natural habitats as well as proven and new techniques involved in the control of invasive exotic plant and animal species in South Florida.  Presenters will include researchers, weed scientists, ecologists and plant and animal biologists actively working in related fields.

This one-day conference will provide clarity on those factors intergral in pasture preparation, forage establishment and weed management strategies suitable for horses, cattle, goats and pastured poultry.  Seminar presenters will include specialists in the management and nutrition of the species mentioned, capable of outlining a pasture renovation and management plan and answering tough questions on the subjects.

World population data indicates that more than 51% of people on the earth now live in cities.  Many people in US cities including the cities of Lee County are finding ways to succeed at a new kind of farming - urban farming.  This 4-week evening course will introduce participants to urban agricultural systems including organic, low-input, alternative, biodynamic, holistic, permaculture, and other farming systems that are ecologically sound, economically viable, and socially responsible.

The UF/IFAS Lee County Extension, in collaboration with the Beekeepers Association of Southwest Florida (BASF) offers a 4-week introductory beekeeping class this summer.  

Classes begin on Friday August 9, 2013.  Space is limited to 40 students.  Students receive basic startup kit including bee veil, smoker, bee box and resource books.
Bees will NOT be provided as part of this package!
