Lee County Extension
4-H Volunteers
I Want to Volunteer!
The 4-H/Youth Development program depends upon volunteers, as club leaders, judges, project book evaluators, guest speakers, and presenters. University of Florida will provide the necessary volunteer orientation, training and continuing education. Give us a call at 239-533-7517 to discuss the volunteer opportunities that are available in Lee County.
It's a positive way to become involved with today's youth. You will enable a youngster to discover his/her abilities through your guidance, encouragement and time.

AND LEARN A LITTLE MORE
ABOUT YOURSELF!!
Judge
You do not need to be an expert. You need only to be knowledgeable about the subject area either through the work you perform daily, past experience in that area or your hobbie is related to the area. We are not awarding Nobel prizes to the youth, so there is not a lot of pressure on the judges. As a judge you will need to be willing to provide consistent standards for all participant and fair constructive criticism to the youth on the judging sheets to help them increase their skills and identify new area's to explore related to their topic.
It is not required that you have a working knowledge of the 4-H program or have a background in 4-H, nor is it required that you have previous experience judging other types of event. An orientation will be held prior to each event to provide you the information and skills needed to judge a 4-H event. This is a fun and exciting way to give back to the community we all work to make better.
